Adoption Process - Policy One
Adoption Process, Fees & Rehoming Policy
Our Adoption Process
At Hope 4 Paws UK & Spain Dog Rescue, our priority is to ensure that every dog is matched with a safe, loving, and suitable home. To achieve this, we follow a thorough adoption process designed to support both the adopter and the dog.
Stage 1 – Initial Contact
The first point of contact is via WhatsApp.
When making an enquiry, please introduce yourself and provide details about:
- Your name and contact information
- Your home and living arrangements
- Your family and household members
- Your work commitments
- Your lifestyle and daily routine
- Any previous dog ownership experience
This initial stage is an informal conversation where we get to know you better and discuss the dog you are interested in adopting.
Stage 2 – Home & Garden Assessment
If the initial discussion is positive, you will be asked to provide photographs of:
- Your home (inside and outside)
- Your garden
- Any areas where the dog will spend time
The more photographs you provide, the easier it is for us to assess suitability.
For dogs being rehomed directly from EU rescue partners, we may also request a short introductory video of yourself, your home, and your garden. This video may be shared with our rescue partners in Europe, who are experienced and trained in assessing suitable homes for their rescued dogs.
Stage 3 – Information Pack
We will send you information about our rescue service, adoption process, and the dog you are interested in. This information can be provided either via WhatsApp or email, depending on your preference.
Stage 4 – Adoption Application Form
You will then be directed to complete our online adoption application form.
The application will be reviewed carefully to assess suitability. We may contact you for clarification or additional information if required.
Stage 5 – Home Check
If your application is approved, an in-person home check will be arranged.
The purpose of the home check is to ensure that:
- The environment is safe and secure
- The dog's needs can be met
- Any questions or concerns can be discussed before adoption
Stage 6 – Adoption Pack & Policies
Following a successful home check, you will be asked to complete our final adoption pack.
You will also be required to:
- Read and agree to our Rehoming Policy
- Read and agree to our Bite Policy
- Sign any relevant adoption documentation
These documents will be provided via WhatsApp or email.
Stage 7 – Transport Booking
For dogs travelling from the EU:
- A non-refundable £100 application deposit is required.
- This deposit secures your application and reserves a place on the transport.
Once transport has been booked, you will be added to a dedicated travel group where you can follow your dog's journey to the UK. In most cases, live location tracking will be available, allowing adopters to enjoy and share in the experience of their dog's journey.
Stage 8 – Final Payment
The remaining transport contribution of £295 must be paid before the dog reaches the UK.
Once payment has been received and all adoption requirements have been met, arrangements will be made for your dog's arrival and collection.
Adoption Fees
EU Dogs
We do not charge an adoption fee for dogs travelling from EU countries.
Instead, adopters are required to contribute towards the transport costs associated with bringing the dog to the UK.
Typical transport costs range between £395 and £450 depending on:
- Transport provider
- Collection location
- Individual travel requirements
Many EU rescue dogs require extensive veterinary treatment, vaccinations, blood tests, passports, and other preparations before they are legally able to travel.
Hope 4 Paws UK & Spain Dog Rescue works closely with trusted rescue partners throughout Europe to help ensure these costs are managed appropriately. Our organisation contributes towards rescue and veterinary expenses alongside the support provided by our EU rescue partners.
EU Adoption & Transport Contributions
- £100 non-refundable application deposit
- £295 transport contribution payable before travel
These payments are allocated directly towards the safe relocation of the dog to the UK.
Please note that transport-related payments are non-refundable.
UK Dogs
For dogs rehomed within the United Kingdom, the adoption fee is:
£395
This fee contributes towards:
- Rescue and rehabilitation costs
- Veterinary treatment and medical care
- Kennel fees in EU countries
- Transport expenses
- Foster care support
- General rescue and rehoming operations
The UK adoption fee is non-refundable.
Surrender & Rehoming Fees
Surrender / Rehoming Fee (UK & EU Dogs)
In the event that an adopted dog needs to be surrendered back to Hope 4 Paws UK & Spain Dog Rescue for rehoming, a:
£100 Administration Fee
will be payable.
This fee helps cover the significant costs involved in:
- Advertising the dog
- Managing enquiries
- Conducting assessments
- Arranging transport
- Rehoming the dog to a suitable new family
Please note that any transport costs previously paid are non-refundable.
Our Commitment
Hope 4 Paws UK & Spain Dog Rescue is committed to finding lifelong homes for every dog in our care. We carefully assess each adoption to ensure the best possible match between dog and adopter.
Our goal is not simply to place dogs into homes, but to secure safe, loving, and permanent homes where they can thrive for the rest of their lives.
We thank all adopters for their patience, cooperation, and support throughout the adoption process.
